Senator Sunday Onuh back bill to establish Police pension board

Senator Sandy Onuh has backed the bill to establish Police pension board.

The bill to establish the police pension board that will handle all matters related to personnel of the force connected purpose was sponsored by Senator Elisha Ishaku.

“Let me support my Colleague for this very beautiful Bill. I am a member of the Police Committee and I have had cause to sit in meetings where pensioners in police formations have bemoan their plight.” Senator Sandy Onuh said at plenary on Tuesday.

“”The way your Police operate is a function of how you treat the Police. These men are not given the kind of dignity and the welfare that they deserve. That is the truth. This case of Pension is not acceptable. Our Police must understand that we care for them.” he added

The Bill is read the Second Time and referred to Committee on Police Affairs for further legislative Affairs to report back in four weeks.

In a related news, the Bill for an Act to Repeal the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and enact the Administration of Criminal Justice Bill, 2022 to among other things, provide for the establishment of administration of criminal justice monitoring council for effective and efficient administration of justice in Nigeria; and for related matters, 2022 (SB. 920) also read for the second time.

The bill, sponsored by Senator Orker-Jev is also referred to committee on Judicial, Human Rights and Legal Matters and expected to report back in four weeks.
