A N50 million earth road at Angwa-Islamiya-Ojede road, Ankpa, Kogi State, has been washed away by rainfall barely two weeks after it was inaugurated.
The 3.5km road was facilitated by Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim, member representing Ankpa/Omala/Olamaboro constituency at the Federal House of Representatives. The dilapidated road was part of the constituency projects handled by the lawmaker.
Constituency projects are nominated by lawmakers to improve the living conditions of their constituents by building local infrastructures.
According to TrackaNG, a public accountability organisation that visited the project site, the sum of N50million was allocated to the construction and rehabilitation of rural Angwa-Islamiya-Ojede road in the 2020 Federal Government budget.
“We tracked and report that weeks after commissioning the road, rain has washed away the road. Poorly constructed,” TrackaNG stated.

Nasiru Adejoh, a Media Assistant to Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim, was not reachable when contacted by FIJ. He also did not respond to a message requesting his comments on the state of the dilapidated road.
FIJ had reported how a Federal Government project worth N125 million that was allocated in the 2020 budget to Niger East Senatorial District was overpriced.
The project was facilitated by Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, who represents Niger East Senatorial District and doubles as the Chairman, Committee on Senate Services.
